Im in 8th grade and im graduating. i need a hair style, and i'm thinking to curl it. do celebrities and others curl their hair with a normal curling iron? how should i do it? im a brunete, 5'3'', have hair just a little below my shoulders, and i have a heart-shaped/oval face. what hairstyle would look best on me? is curling the best? what curling ways look best?

I am H2O obsessed. For years I閳ユ獫e told my celebrity clients to wash their hair with bottled water since this is the best for soft, shiny hair and hydrated skin. Have you ever tried it?

Yes. It does.

Bottled water is not necessary where I live. We have our own wells. No need for hair conditioner or body lotion.

When we head to the city, ANY city, we purchase conditioner and body lotion. As a family we use more than the hotels are willing to dole out.

You can really smell the chemicals that they add to the water!

To save a couple dollars, your budget conscious clients could wash with tap water then condition and rinse with bottled water.

Yes....I find that bottled water washes my hair better than the shower water because bottled water has been filtered thoroughly.

However, perhaps not quite like you'd think - the healthiest my hair has ever been was the summer I worked at a sleep-away camp - and washed my hair with (essentially) cleaned lake water. It was shiny and smooth, no fly-aways, etc. I noticed a big difference in texture almost as soon as I came home and started using regular water again, with no change in product.

Absolutely, most of tap water contains far too much chlorine which can dry hair out and make it brittle. If you really want the perfect wash use a water filter on your shower or use bottled water. I am sure you know the wonderful effects pure water can have! But for those that don't , you would be surprised to see a difference!

I've never used bottled water on my hair; but I have well water which appears to be softer then regular tap water. There is a difference in my skin, hair and clothes compared to the regular tap water I used to use at my other property. It's much softer and rinses clean and clear. I also have a purifier in my kitchen and the water is absolutely crisp and clear.

When I have to go out of town and use different water my hair is different. I have had to go get conditioning treatments at a hotel spa just because the hotel water was so bad on my hair. It has happened to me time and time again. Enough that it is not just a theory with me. It is fact.

I have tried the bottled water on my hair and I love how it feels unfortunately I can't always use it.

The quality of the water you are washing your hair in does play a major role in how your hair looks. If there is a lot of sediment in the water, your hair will look brassy and dull. Hard water has many impurities in it. I don't wash my hair with bottled water, it's too expensive for me to buy bottles of water like that, but we do have a water filter in our water pipes at my house.

EDIT: I was going to say, that I have used rain water before, and it really makes my hair soft.

I have never tried bottled water, however I have lived in 26 different states, including Hawaii, and have had many different hair textures in my long straight style, due to the quality of the water in all of those different places. The best washes ever were in small towns where they used conditioned collected rain water and/or underground springs for the water supply. I have kept my hair at over 2 feet long most of my life. I notice a difference quickly.

On a different note, I am ready to donate my hair to the charity that makes wigs for little girls with cancer. Do you know where this is?

I can't even afford to DRINK bottled water, and you want me to pour it on my hair? No, I've never tried it. I'm sure that if I could afford to spend the extra money on my hair, nicer shampoo would make more difference than nicer water, but I also don't doubt that water quality does make a difference too, and for someone who's already using the most expensive shampoo, why not use the most expensive water, too?

I'm sure that water quality does make a difference in how hair turns out after washing. But what I'm not sure of is that the same things that make water taste nice also make it good for hair. All drinking water has minerals dissolved in it. The main difference between tap water and bottled water is how much and which minerals there are. But it's not necessarily that bottled water has less minerals overall, it's just that it has a different balance that supposedly makes it taste better.

When it comes down to it, I really don't know what minerals are good for hair. Maybe distilled water (which, in theory, would have virtually no dissolved ions) or deionized water would be best for hair, since that's about as close to pure water as you can get. Or maybe water with lots of the right minerals would be better. I'm really not sure. But I don't doubt that the right combination of minerals dissolved in water would make a difference in how hair looks after being washed in that water.

I noticed a lot of answerers have based their answer on experience with water in different places. Be careful with this, since it's essentially an uncontrolled experiment, with far too many variables. I think it far more likely that the differences people saw under these conditions were primarily the result of differences in humidity, temperature, air pollution, etc. in these places, more than the quality of the tap water.

But then again, I may not be the most qualified person in the world to comment on hair care given that I routinely sacrifice washing my hair in favor of completing a homework assignment or studying for a test.

No, I haven't tried it. I am sure it does play a role in how your hair turns out, though. If someone looks at what well water or hard water does to a bathtub or sink, and thinks about how much more delicate human hair is, people have to agree with your logic. It never occurred to me before, but my sister has awful problems with the health of her hair, and her water is so bad that she has a difficult time washing her dishes and clothes without mineral deposits and odd staining. The water must be contributing to her hair problems.

I wash my hair with rain water. I have bottles and bottles of this. Now, it's probably not as good, since it's not filtered. But, it keeps my hair soft. Fresh rain water is the best though. But, I can't wait around for it to rain.

I do think that water quality plays a role in it, although I do nothing about it. How I long for the days when my grandmother collected Indiana rainwater in buckets to wash my hair. I now live in Las Vegas without a water softener. Our water here is mineral-laden, and hard on both skin and hair. Most people here are more concerned with their drinking water quality than what they use in their hair, as most Las Vegans buy bottled water.

I did notice, however, on a Caribbean cruise that the water on the ship in which I washed my hair had an effect on it. It brought out my hair's natural curliness, and therefore I went the entire cruise without blow-drying or using a curling iron. That experience inspired the natural non-chemically enhanced hair that I now wear.

In the summer of 2004, I virtually shaved off all my hair down to about 1/4 inch. It's now grown out to about 12", and I now wear styles that feature my natural waves and curls. HALLELUJAH! I'm now free from chemicals and devices, and my hair is stronger than ever!

In spite of these facts, I do love your show, and convinced my mother--a former beautician and barber--to watch it, as well. Your Beauty Water Shower Purification System was a brilliant way to go. Next, how about considering your own brand of vitamins, since hair quality originates internally? I don't go to bed without popping mine. You could call them something like "Jonathan Product Intensives." Catchy, huh?

Yes! I absolutely believe that water quality plays an important role in how your hair looks. Most forms of tap water are filled with impurities (chlorine, radon, etc) and many different types of metals...which are obviously *not* good for your hair.

I am a little germ-phobic, and I don't drink or use regular tap water for anything. I have a water filter that attaches to my shower head that purifies the water. I have definitely noticed a difference in the softness and hydration of my hair and skin since using the purified water. Also, my hair is noticeably shinier and sleeker.

For anyone interested, the water filtration systems are inexpensive and you can buy them for 20 or 30 dollars at places like Home Depot.

Once when our house burned down and we couldn't get assistance we had to move back in to the old house (what was left) and make due. We had no running water, electricity, and we all slept in one room. Eventually Mom and the other kids moved into a motel (thanks to the wonderful people at Red Cross, God bless them!) Because the water in the creek behind our house is contaminated (we couldn't bathe in it) due to the neighbors leach lines running directly into the creek we had to bathe with bottled water. It did leave me soft and supple but at that point I didn't care. I spent 6 hours a day cleaning up what was left of my life and the rest of the day working one of my four jobs that by the time I took a bath I was exahusted.

I also washed my clothes in bottled water with a scrub board and old fassioned washer stick. Doing clothes like that was a nightmare but I'm sure doing clothes in a tub with bottled water helped my skin some.

P.S. This was just 3 years ago and I was 18...Welcome to Oklahoma.

Moral of the story? When you're family is starving and practically homeless you don't care about your hair...You start thinking about other things than YOURSELF and work, HARD. Period....

Oh, and another thing...I'd like to see you wash my 3 1/2 foot long hair with bottled water...Good luck! It took at least 6 gallons of bottled water to do just my hair. I was blessed enough to have a boss that let me shower at work in his office once a week when he was gone...

Probably not. Most likely they use chemical straighteners like relaxers and almost always accompany that with a sewn in weave. The weave keeps straight styles longer than natural hair, so it may not be necessary to straighten daily.

Wrapping hair can keep it straight with a little curve to it but the best way to keep it super straight is to clip up with a hair clip (like the duck bill looking ones) and sleep on your stomach, not your back (it crinkles up your hair). If you are prone to sleeping "bad", you can wrap in a scarf to make sure your pillow doesn't tug you hair around. In the morning, brush it out really good with a round brush and any creases should go away. You can also blow dry on a lukewarm setting (not cold) while brushing out to get that just blown and straightened look.

My hair is reallllyy thick and super frizzy. All my friends have this gorgeous thin layered hair and they can always do gorgeous things with their bangs and stuff. Everyone says I should get it layered, should I!? And what style should I get. My hair just lays flat around my face and it is always frizzy ou around the ends, even when I straighten it! I have to stragiten it almost ALWAYS! help me!

I can't get it permed, because my hair is already curly.. that wouldn't really help me. And all the smoothing creams I used haven't worked. What exactly should I tell the styllits, and does anyone know of any celebrities I could model my hair after?!!? They have to have thick hair.

Just let it grow thick and long and don't wash it everyday. Wash it every 3 or 4 days. Put mousse on it and scrunch it. My hair has never looked better since i quit washing it so much. For real..... try it you will see!

HELP! My hair is so thick and frizzy!?

well first of all, if you don't wash it often, it will become oily which feels really bad and can give you acne. What you should do is wash your hair in the afternoon, to give it some time to dry comepletely (after drying your hair with a hair dryer of course) around for 2-3 hours. Then you sleep on it. The next day, your hair will feel non-oily, and clean but it will be controlled because of the 12 hours that you have given your hair some time to expose its shine

you keep the part you want poofed up out and put the rest back. then you can either pin it or wrap it with a second band if you are doing a pony tail, but push your hair forward so it poofs before you secure it. teasing it makes it ratty looking. i am assuming you are looking for something like hoe jessica alba does hers.

I have recently been thinking of dying my hair brown because i aM JUST tried of being the same old blonde. I was wondering what celebs have made that leap from blonde to dark brown. I can think of a few right now and they all look way better with their dark brown..or at least I think so. As I said I am blonde(kinda of a strawberry blonde) and I have pale skin an big blue eyes. I am a natural auburn and naturally have thick, medium textured, wavy hair. I have a heart shape face. I have a few cowlicks in my hairline at my forehead and I have a high forehead. My hair is presently to my shoulders and I do not like having my hair any longer and definitely don't care for it short. I am overweight at this time, but am working on losing weight. What would be the best haircut for me? And what would be the best way to wear my bangs? Please do not suggest coloring techniques because that is not what I'm asking.

if you like the length your at then add some layers, but not too many cuz that causes poof. for hair to your shoulders I wouldn't suggest layers any shorter than half way btwn your shoulders and chin. If you want bangs you'll have to work at them, a long swoopy side bang would work-and I always think it looks cute if the rest is curly but you just take a flat iron to the bangs-nothing like rounded 80's bangs, just nice and sleek. as for a pic...it would be kinda hard to find one with everything I suggested all in one....but if your ever in melbourne, fl......

Well I think wavy is good. You might want to get high lights. You should cut your bangs off in the front but on the sides make it shorter then you regular hair.

1. I wash my hair with shampoo, and then when it comes to the conditioner part i squeeze out all the excess water and put in the conditioner. Then I Tied it in a bun and leave it in my hair for about 2 hours and then i wash it out. It really works great. (I GOT THIS TIP FROM MY HAIR STYLIST)

2. I buy this shine serum you put on your hair and it makes your hair shiny. Its about $3.99 a bottle and it is very inexpensive. It is called "Citre Shine". It makes your hair look Fab.

I used to have the same problem. There are two things you can do that help tremendously. First, invest in a flat iron. You can get decent one from walmart that wont break the bank. This will make your hair super silky and shiny. The first week I began to use one I received numerous compliments. Secondly, buy some pomade or smoothing serum. I personally use Biolage smoothing serum. The bottle will last you forever. Take a small amount in your fingertips and after you flat iron smooth down the flyaways and little hairs that stick up. You can also put it in your hair when your hair is still wet- blowdry, then flat iron for the same effect. I dont have much time to get ready in the mornings but this literally takes me about 5 minutes. Good luck!

Deep-condition your hair once a week. Wash your hair then put on a rich conditioner (K-Pak by Joico is great and it smells wonderful!), and pin it up under a shower cap while you shave your legs or whatever, then rinse (try to leave it on for about 5-10 minutes). Shine serums are good, too, but don't use too much or you risk looking greasy. I have the spray kind from Treseme and I just spray it on a brush, then run the brush through my dry hair. With damp hair, roll it into rollers, it really don't matter what kind. They can be foam. If they are the ceramic heated kind then wit until your locks are dry, then roll them. I suggest you use foam to start with because they are inexpensive and it you don't like them, you're only out like $5, rather $20-$50. Before you roll, put some mouse in your hair. Roll, with med heat, (or, if you have time let air dry), blow-dry. Take rollers out and run your fingers through the waves. (Use big rollers to achieve the look of your pics) DO NOT BRUSH!!!! Brushing your hair will make it look frizzy and pull the waves out.

Put some hairspray on your hair and look fabulous!

If you are referring to the length of their hair, then I would obviously suggest natural hair extentions. They can be pricey to get but are very worth it and will match closer to your hair colour. If you are referring to the style, I know that in the salon I work at, you would either use hot rollers which work fairly well but with those, it is very difficult to do by yourself. If you want another option, I would suggest a medium to larger size barrel on a hot curling iron. If you were to go with a curling iron, ceramic would be the best choice as it will do less damage then regular metal and the curl would keep longer and the curl will stay more firmly. Also use a good hair spray when creating the curls and a good mousse after you washed your hair before-hand for volume. (For the products, go to your local drug store if you are short on money and ask the ladies there to help you find a good mousse and hair spray. If you are willing to spend more then go into a professional salon and talk to a representative. They will make suggestions on which products will work best on your hair.)

Seperate into 3 sections with ponytail holders

To curl hair, use a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Starting with one section, take a 1-inch portion of hair and wrap hair around the barrel of the curling iron. (Wrapping hair is different from the traditional curling method. You don't want to 'clip' hair into the barrel. Wrapping allows you to curl all the way to the root). When you're curling, make sure to leave ends loose.

Release the curl after about 5-10 seconds (hold longer if you want a tighter curl). You should have a corkscrew curl.

Roll curl and bobby pin it close to the scalp. (I sometimes skip this step to save time).

Alternate the direction of the curl as you work your way through the section. (It's all in the direction you wind hair around the barrel of the curling iron. Start by placing hair on top of the barrel and wrapping around, then switch by putting the barrel on top of the hair before winding it around). Alternating directions makes curls look more natural.

Once pinned curls have cooled, release them.

Remove nozzle from dryer and gently loosen waves with cool air. You can also separate curls with your fingers, just make sure not to brush them out.

To add shine, spritz a hair serum . Or forego hair serum and spritz with saltwater spray. I like John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea spray.

Set with hairspray. Just don't overdue it, you don't want new waves to feel 'crunchy.'

Curl your hair with a striaghtener..

Weird, I know, but it really works..BUT-it has to be a really thin straightener..like no more than a couple inches in width..

Ok..you take the strand of hair you're working on and put the straightener at the top..twist the straightener a little bit and kind of curl your hair around the straightener a couple times..once your hair's curled around it just once or twice, pull down..you have to pull kinda hard..

It looks so pretty if you do it right, I'm really sorry if you couldn't understand-I tried my best..

you can start by using a thickening shampooo, then only condition the ends, not the roots of your hair.....then use a thickening spray all over, blow dry your hair upside down till it is completely dry......use hot rollers, using the smaller ones on the bottom of your hair, then the larger ones on the top section....leave them till they cool, before you take them out, spray your whole head with a good hairspray....gently take out the bottom ones leaving most of the curl, then the top one take out and finger comb them....you should be okay....good luck.

Make sure you bag it though,that holds your body heat in and helps to allow you hair to absorb the moisture. Also i would suggest that you buy a styling pomade for curly hair.John Freida has one pick it up its worth a shot. You should try to not blow dry it,you can put the pomade on your damp hair and letit air dry,it will look great.

I ask this question moreso to question the legitimacy of hair transplants.

I think if Donald Trump (who certainly has hair loss issues) is so incredibly rich, why can't/hasn't he already gotten hair transplants? It is obvious by his comb-over that he cares about how his hair looks.

I ask this because I am wondering if hair transplants or other hair loss solutions are even efficient.

If all this rich celebrities that have hair loss don't just spend a small percentage of their earnings on hair loss treatment, then that tells me maybe the treatments aren't really that good.

I know Elton John has had work done and he looks great. But why not Trump? Or Bruce Willis? Jude Law? They certainly have the money.

Everyone used to be blonde, lindsay, britney, hilary, and now everyone has put het hair brown or black, but they look older! WHY? anyway no racis commentaries and no "because brunettes rule" or "men like blond" commentaries, please just tell me why you think this is happening lately... :-D

and sometimes... well, to be honest, i think celebrities are a bit like sheep. one gets spooked, the others get spooked. one dyes their hair brown, the others dye their hair brown.

and celebrities influence other people who watch them.

take my peers, for example. i'm in eighth grade, and i can't even THINK about dying my own hair (think about the damage! i like my hair; it's sort of a chocolate brown color) but others around me are carelessly switching from redhead to blondie, from blondie to brunette. it's really annoying, actually, because i've already had about five girls come up to me and say "where did you dye your hair?"

i have straight hair too, and people ask me about that too. "where did you get your hair straightened?" i almost wanna scream, "i DIDN'T get it straightened, alright!? has it ever occured to you that maybe this was what I was born with!?"

sorry i went a bit off-topic.

so i guess my final answer for your question is...

because society has made it this way. as i told you, they're like sheep. they'll follow the runway, they'll follow their friends, but they don't like to do anything original themselves. and when someone is brave enough to do so, the others follow, because they were too afriad to do it before someone actually did it.

frankly, i don't have a specific theory on why everyone's dyeing their brown and black lately, i guess they wanna look "sophisticated", but honestly...

don't change your hair color. don't get plastic surgery.

why change your appearance when that was what you were born with? has it ever occured to you that maybe that was the way you were supossed to be?

I'm not sure why it became a huge trend all of the sudden, but it seems like everyone follows each other. My baby sister said that Hilary dyed her hair because of a movie, and then people think it is cool, so they follow it. I agree totally. Also, it is a more wintery color, so that could be another reason. Oh, another thing could be that movies lately have been very biopic, so that could be a main reason why alot of women are going with a more 'natural' color.

it's the same as when every one was dying their hair blonde at one point.....they may think that brunette or darker hair is more sophisticated and exotic! i think that since stereotypes exist that people take darker as opposed to blonder haired people more seriously...not that it is right though!....just a guess though

I've seen many young (or new) artists go blond (even males) when they "break out." It's a tactic to attract young males, IMO. But once established, they can go dark. -or- they get tired of fake dry straw on their heads.

Celebrities have been waxing/waning with the blond/brunette....Madonna started it over a decade ago...Christina Aguillera about 5 years ago....Britney has gone back with each pregnancy (because the bleach isn't good for the baby)It also has "roots" with the goth culture.

Because that's the current trend. Don't worry though. Like history, trends repeat themselves and we will see blondes become popular again at some point. Being a brunette myself I'm happy with the change. Not saying brunettes rule or anything like that. I just happen to look horrible as a blonde. BTW, being a brunette doesn't make everyone look older. It can actually be very flattering, sometimes much more so than blonde on some people.

they have some different layered haircuts that you can do cool things with...just go into a salon..some offer free consutations and they will let you know what might work best with your hair type.....if you want you can even ad depth and dimension with some new color with your new cut. :)
