Americans will suddenly start caring when the dollar crashes.

When China %26amp; Japan get tired of servicing the US debt %26amp; our credit finally runs out with the rest of the world.

When we finally realize that there is NO PROVISION to pay for 53 trillion dollars worth of Medicare/Medicais/Social Security.

That's when people will start to care. Not until, though.

I care and there are thousands of people who care also. In my opinion, the people who are obsessed with Paris Hilton, the latest fashions, their favorite hairstyle and the new technologies are just plain superficial. It could be that deep down they do care, but don't really know how to speak it or carry them out.

Because of low self-confidence I have a hard time getting myself out there to help in the ways I would like to. Such as helping to counsel rape victims or drug abusers or just to volunteer my time with anybody that needs help.

Maybe you need to find websites that are more intuitive and thought-provoking and have some people who are willing to really do some serious talking about today's world and how to take action in helping out. Just a suggestion. Are you hanging out with these kind of people? That might help too.

I think in some way we all do, but it is easier to immurse one-self in trivialities than to panick over the state of things....or so it seems for most. I think that is the great affliction of many ....sometimes called drama queens and kings.....to not think on the big things because we just dont have time! Its too scary so we will fight with our friends and gossip and such instead!
